Bonjour! I am a 25 year-old proud HOKIE/Virginia Tech alum originally from Midlothian, Virginia. I currently reside in Epagny, France where I am working as an Au Pair for three adorable children.  Before this, I was living in New York where I started this blog as a creative outlet, as well as a way to record all of my experiences.

I have spent the past three years working in higher education as an admissions counselor. This summer I decided it was time to start crossing some things off my bucket list, and here I am! I love writing, photography, crafts, music, and anything French. I also love to travel, and hope that this adventure is just the beginning of many more to come.

My outlook on life can be summed up in the following quote:

For what it’s worth: It’s never too late, or in my case too early to be whatever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you have never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you are proud of. If you find that you are not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

-F. Scott Fitzgerald

Sounds like an interesting life you lead! The French Alps are amazing, I drove by several times, never made it up there myself though. Happy blogging! 🙂

Hello, you have a lovely blog and fascinating stories. I was once an au pair in spain in my early twenties, and sort of love reliving those adventures through your posts. I have a cousin who is interested in becoming an au pair, but I am no longer a good resource for her. Do you have an agency you signed-up with to get placed, and would you mind sharing? Thank you

Hi there. Thank you for reading my blog! I am glad you are able to relate through some of the posts- what an adventure it is to do a year abroad, especially as an au pair. 🙂
I used the following website called Au Pair World: https://www.aupairworld.com/en
Families usually subscribe and have to pay but it is free for au pairs. Pretty much all of the au pairs I know here went through this website. You can search families and vice versa and have conversations. Then you do a skype interview and after the family picks you and you agree on one, you need to get your visa appointment scheduled because sometimes the earliest appointment is a month out. Anyway, there are other details, but the consulate should be able to help with all those specifics. (random tip-don’t smile in the visa picture or they will make you re-take it haha)

Hope that helps- there are also facebook groups as well that connect people with families too (example- https://www.facebook.com/groups/130195327042068/)

      Best of luck to her!
